What’s it like to practice law as an associate at Beck Redden? We have designed our summer associate program to give recruits an opportunity to answer that question by experiencing life as an associate at Beck Redden. Our summer associates do real legal work for real clients under the supervision of Beck Redden attorneys. Summer associates experience first-hand the nature of our practice by attending trials, hearings, depositions, client meetings and strategy sessions.
Summer associates assist with a variety of work including substantive legal writing. For example, you may prepare a pre-trial brief, a motion for the trial court or assist with an appellate brief. There is no “make work” in our program. You will get the same types of assignments as associates at our firm. If you work on a brief or a motion, you will also assist in helping the attorney get ready to make the oral argument.
When the work is done, we have social gatherings. These informal get-togethers allow summer associates an opportunity to get to know all of the attorneys in our firm outside of the office. We want to make sure each summer associate has a successful summer experience so each summer associate has a partner and associate to act as mentors.
Beck Redden invites candidates with strong academics, proven leadership skills and self-motivation to apply for our 2L summer associate program. Resumes and transcripts should be sent to Addison L. Braun, Attorney Recruiting, at firstname.lastname@example.org or mailed to our office at 1221 McKinney, Suite 4500, Houston, Texas 77010. The firm does not offer a formal 1L program, but resumes will be reviewed for general consideration.
